Our History
The Grand Chefs were created in the Kingdom of Meridies by Sir Rober Hightower with the intent to promote the art of cooking
within the SCA and setting higher standards for those who found feastcratting to be mundane or simple.
When Gleann Abhann (formerly the Western Region of Meridies) became a Kingdom, The Grand Chefs
residing in Gleann Abhann desired to continue what had been created by Sir Robert Hightower. With his support we have
created our own chapter with our own set of guidelines.

What is a Grand Chef?
A Grand Chef is an individual who
has displayed exceptional ability to organize all aspects of a medieval feast in current times. This includes,
but is not limited to, research, modern safety and health requirements, timely presentation and budgetary concerns.
A Grand Chef is someone that has met the
Guideline requirements and successfully presented their Grand Chef Feast before a panel of Grand Chefs.

Our Purpose
It is the collective purpose of The Grand Chefs of Gleann Abhann to further
the feastcratting experience through encouraging the research and presentation of period recipes, ingredients and techniques,
implementing and promoting the use of kitchen management and safety skills during the course of feast preparation, and sharing
this knowledge with others.
